Terrace Hill Piano Competition
Established in 1986, the Terrace Hill Piano Competition is held annually at the Iowa Public Television studios in Johnston, Iowa. The 2019 competition, taking place at 9:30 am on Saturday, February 9th, will feature junior-level high school students. All entrants must be in grades 9-11 in an Iowa high school, or be Iowa residents with equivalent home-school status. Two winners will be named, with each receiving a cash prize of fifty dollars, courtesy of Des Moines Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers of Central Iowa. A live-stream showcase will be held Saturday, February 9th at 2:00 pm, and all contestants will be invited to play a selection from their competition repertoire. The live-stream will be available on IPTV.org. The public is invited to be part of the studio audience for the 2:00 pm showcase performance. The live-stream performances will then be compiled into an hour-long show to be aired on IPTV on Friday, February 15th at 8:30 pm.
