2018 Terrace Hill Piano Competition / February 9 & 10

Established in 1986, The Terrace Hill Piano Competition is held annually at the Iowa Public Television/IPTV studios in Johnston, Iowa.  The competition is open to Iowa students who plan on attending an Iowa college or university as a music major or minor.  The senior level finalists will be awarded scholarships that are distributed over a two year period of time.  The winner will receive $5,000, second-place $3,000 and third-place $2,000.  Appreciation and thanks is extended to West Music for their $3,000 annual contribution to these scholarships.    The competition is overseen and managed by a volunteer Board of Trustees, the Terrace Hill Endowment for Musical Arts/THEMA.  Judging is done by out-of-state professionals. 

All sessions are held at the IPTV studios and are open to the public free of charge.     The 2018  Juniors will compete on Friday, February 9  from 7-9 pm and the Seniors will compete on Saturday, February 10.  Preliminary Senior Competition with six contestants is from 9:30 am-11:30 am and the Senior Final Competition with the top three contestants will be from 2 pm-3 pm.  For more information: terracehillpianocompetition.org
